Anantnag, Jun 28 (KNS): JKPM Leader Syed Iqbal Tahir has demanded an additional Maternal & Child Hospital in Anantnag besides up gradation of old one.
In a statement issued to KNS, Iqbal Tahir has said that the catchment area of MCH, Sheerbagh Anantnag was very vast than its estimated bed capacity which had necessitated its up gradation on priority basis to further improve medicare facilities there.
He stated MCH, Anantnag is the main district level hospital to cater to different Gynaecology and Obstetrics related problems in South Kashmir and also acts as the main referral hospital for about 15 lac population of the district.
Elaborating further, Iqbal Tahir said that the MCH caters patients not only from the nearby areas but patients from far off places like Banihal and Ramban are also referred to MCH Anantnag for getting specialized treatment.
He said in view of the tremendous work load and limited bed capacity, there was an urgent need to up grade this hospital by equipping it with adequate manpower and latest diagnostic machinery.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"
In fact, opening of one more model MCH in Anantnag on priority basis is dire need of time, " Iqbal Tahir remarked while urging the district administration to register this public demand before the higher authorities at the earliest.
Iqbal Tahir also visited the resistance of the Shobi Jan-a 25-year-old pregnant patiant of Anantnag who is alleged to have died yesterday due to inadequate treatment and medical negligence at MCH hospital Sheerbagh, Anantnag .
While condoling death of the pregnant lady and conveying sympathies to the bereaved family, Iqbal Tahir demanded a thorough and time bound enquiry into the matter.
Iqbal Tahir has said that the Doctors at the lone maternity and childcare hospital (MCH), Anantnag, due to inadequate bed capacity and shortage of medical staff, mostly refer patients to Srinagar hospitals particularly to Lal Ded Maternity Hospital, Srinagar.He reiterated the public demand to open an additional MCH in Anantnag on priority basis.
