Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNS): The Jammu Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) has condemned imposition of ban on “Kashmir Reader” as it tantamounts to the muzzling of Press and gage on freedom of expression.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the Executive Members of the Association held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of its president, G.H.Kaloo, to express its concern over the ban on the said Daily, which runs counter to the fundamental rights guaranteed in the constitution of India.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe ban speaks volumes about the tall claims of Govt that it is committed to uphold democratic norms and protect the Fourth Estate against any invasion on its freedom.
Therefore, the JKPA demands revocation of the ban on the above said newspaper immediately to ebb down public angry and mass scale protests which will add fuel to the fire that has already engulfed the State of J&K in general and Kashmir Valley in particular at present. (KNS)
