JKP Cyber cell issues advisories to deptts

Srinagar, June 27 (KNS): The Cyber cell of J&K Police has issued advisories to various departments after data center of PDD department was hacked on Wednesday.
The Cyber Police Kashmir has started an investigation after PDD department filed a complaint regarding the hacking of its data center.
The Cyber police unit of J&K has also increased measures to spread awareness regarding online frauds and cyber security among departments and public in general besides issuing regular updates through social media as well.
KNS had earlier reported that a major cyber-attack on the data center of J&K Power Development Department has been hacked, which has sent shockwaves in the administration.
Quoting Sources in PDD department, KNS reported that attack caught administration unaware till all the data was “filtered from the hands of administration”.
PDD has also constituted an internal enquiry to find out the lacunae as the attack has pushed all activities including billing process in suspension mode.
An official of the IT wing PDD wing admitted the hackers encrypted all official files and data.
He said immediately after officials came to know that the servers had been hacked, all the network data lines were closed so that the hackers are stopped from accessing further data and the servers.
“Four of our servers have been compromised, which we are unable to access, as the hackers have retained the key with them,” the official told KNS.
Aijaz Ahmad, Chief Engineer PDD told KNS that attempts are on to restore process but it will take some more days.
Among 101 servers, 24 servers are under seize, officials said.
When KNS Contacted SP Cyber Police Tahir Ashraf, he said, “The investigation is in progress. It is premature to share anything more.”(KNS)
