JKJCCPS extends support to SSA teachers

Urges govt to fulfill teachers demands

Srinagar, Sep 05 (KNS): While extending its full support to teachers, Jammu and Kashmir Joint Coordination Committee of Private Schools (JKJCCPS) has urged government to fulfill the demands of the teachers wh are the builders of the nation.
In a statement to KNS, President JKJCCPS Showkat M Chowdhary said it is unfortunate that the teachers who are highly respected in the society have to hit the streets and go for indefinite hunger strike for their genuine demands.
He said on special day like Teachers Day, teachers should have been awarded for their meritorious services, but they are forced to go on hunger strike.
“Many teachers have fallen unconscious during their hunger strike but government is unmoved,” said Chowdhary.
Hundreds of teachers have gathered inside the Pratap Park at Srinagar under the banner of J&K Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TJAC) to protest against the indifferent attitude by the government towards the SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters by excluding them from benefits of 7th pay commission.
JKJCCPS said government should consider education is a priority sector by being pro-active and framing school-and-teacher-friendly policies, which will keep the teachers happy, who can in turn impart quality education to the students.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“If the teachers of the society are not happy and have to protest for their demands, it would affect the education system. Government needs to resolve the issue with the teachers so that education of the students is guarded,” said Chowdhary.
The SSA teachers are on indefinite hunger strike for past three days protesting against government’s indifference towards them by not implementing benefits of the 7th pay commission and delinking of their salary from MHRD funding.
Chowdhary also visited the teachers who are on hunger strike and assured his full support to J&K Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TJAC) led by its chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani.
“We can fully understand the gravity of the matter and we support the teachers in their demands. We will make every effort to make government realize their duty towards teachers and full their demands. We will stand the demands of TJAC,” said Chowdhary. (KNS)
