Srinagar 30, July (KNS): Jammu  Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (JKHARA) and Jammu Kashmir Hoteliers Club (JKHC) has urged the administration to step up promotional and convenient strategies for the tourism sector in the valley.

The meeting organised by JKHARA President Chowdhary M Showkat was attended by the executive body of JKHARA and JKHC Members presided by Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq A Chaya pointed out the immediate problems being faced by the hoteliers in valley that include not allowing emergency repairs of the decaying hotel properties, water and electricity bills, etc.

If the state administration is really concerned about Tourism Sector then at their own level they can consider the complete waiver of all fixed electricity, water usage and other utility charges  collected from all hoteliers, guest houses, travel agents, tour operators, restaurants and the likes," he added.

Chaya further appreciated  Chowdhary for hosting joint meeting and expressed hope that under the united leadership, the tourism sector will be taken to new heights.

JKHARA also urged the LG Administration to announce special packages for the tourism sector which is the main pillar of economic promotion of the state. “Tour operators visit other parts of the country and promote JK’s tourism products. They need financial assistance in tourism promotion as all sectors including tourism suffered heavy economy losses due to the pandemic. The financial assistance would help them launch a promotional campaign again,” said Chowdhary.

To make economic success in tourism sector , hoteliers are also making efforts and encouraging travellers to visit Kashmir. We have activated our travel agents for tourism promotions. However, at this time, we badly need government support for allowing us to renovate the decaying properties so that we will be able to provide adequate facilities to the tourists,” said Mukhtar Shah  Gulmarg chapter president

We have been fervently appealing to the Lt. Governor to impress upon the administration that the lease of the hoteliers may be extended so that they can work shoulder to shoulder with the government in attracting tourists in large numbers.
