Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party’s Europe-wide signature campaign started off successfully in Amsterdam on the 23rd and 24th of April. Hundreds of signatures were gathered in two days by holding the signature campaign in Amsterdam’s main city centre at the Rembrandt-Square.
JKDLP’s Signature campaign is an effort to create awareness regarding the Kashmir-issue in general and in particular vis-á-vis the proposed annexation of Gilgit-Baltistan by Pakistan and the “illegal construction” of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Thousands of booklets with Jammu & Kashmir’s historical and political background and Flyers with an appeal to support the cause were distributed to the European public.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKDLP leader, Junaid Qureshi said that “If Pakistan imposes its sovereign writ over Gilgit-Baltistan, India will then have a political and moral right to fully integrate Jammu & Kashmir into India, and scrap Article 370 of its constitution, which gives Jammu & Kashmir a special status. This would pave way for further division of already divided Jammu & Kashmir. It is very important to raise our voice against such designs and seek support on international platform and among international human rights organizations and activists”.
He said the “proposed annexation of Gilgit-Baltistan and the construction of this illegal corridor, complimented by the military benefits for both China and Pakistan and an investment of 46 billion dollars, has all the ingredients to exacerbate the complexities of the Kashmir issue, threaten peace, cement China’s stake in Jammu & Kashmir and thereby jeopardize any solution to this long-standing conflict.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
The Signature campaign will continue in the Netherlands in the month of April and move to Brussels and Paris in May. JKDLP intends to hold the Campaign in London, Vienna, Geneva and other European cities in the coming months.
“We hope that every Kashmiri and all other people, irrespective of political ideology, caste, creed and religion will support JKDLP’s efforts against the further division of our motherland,” the statement said.

Junaid Qureshi reiterated that, the whole of Jammu & Kashmir belongs to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Gilgit-Baltistan is part of Jammu & Kashmir State, the future status of which still needs to be decided according to the wishes of all the state subjects of Jammu, Ladakh, the Kashmir Valley, Pakistan-administered Kashmir and indeed, Gilgit-Baltistan”.
