Brains of inbuilt- talented people cannot be locked:Qayoom Wani

Srinagar September 29:(KNS) Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has criticized the government’s move to dismay the employees by banning to use their talent by virtue of different kinds of expressions viz voice, art, writing etc which the Forum believes was an investment to the overall development of the society In various domains of print and electronic media . In a statement issued here JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that talent indeed happens to be an inborn ability and it cannot be stopped but it would come out in one or the other way. Wani said on one hand the govt promotes the talents in schools and has declared the curriculum incomplete without the co- scholastic activities that comprise debates, paintings, quiz, poetry, prose writing and speech competitions but on the other hand the same govt is issuing orders of ban for govt employees not to use their inbuilt talents on the recognized and valid platforms of print and electronic media.

“This kind of order is vague and strange, no doubt any govt employee is bound to perform his or her primary duty first and there are laid down service norms to regulate such duties and check the employees’ performances. But what logic it is to lock the brain of a born painter, a voice artist, a writer, a freelance journalist, a singer or any other talented person of such fields who could use it in his leisue time “Wani questioned

In the previous regimes people of the talent who were govt servants have been elevated to higher positions giving them privilege on the basis of their ability in literature and talent and now the employees are seeing a bad time for intelligent people that to strangulate their talents and live in cocoons, which biologically and psychologically could create health problems for employees, Wani added.

JKCSF vehemently urges upon the govt to roll back the circular and allow the employees to express and use their inborn ability and talent by way of an investment of human resource towards their society for the overall development of education, economy, social uplifting and the general prosperity. The employees are the well-read lot of the society and intellectual grow among them and if their talent is muzzled then who will reform the society.

JKCSF also urges for the freedom of press in Jammu and Kashmir and to allow the journalists to perform their professional duties in free and fair atmosphere. (KNS)
