Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): Former Head of Distance Education Department, University of Kashmir Dr. Shafiqa Parveen today said that Kashmiri women have achieved a lot through their commendable efforts in every field including literature.
She was speaking at a women’s Mushaira organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages at its Seminar Hall here on Tuesday.
A large number of women intellectuals, writers and poets from different parts of the Valley attended the Mushaira.

Addressing the gathering, chief guest, Naseem Shafai said that women were an integral part of the society and as writers and poets they had been contributing their thoughts for creating a better environment.
Dr. Shabnum Ashai, who attended the event as guest of honour, said that the efforts of the Academy like today’s event were welcome as by hosting such events it is providing women a platform to express their thoughts.
Naseem Shafai, Nighat Sahiba, Rukhsana Jabeen, Nighat Nazar, Shabnum Ashai, Reza Ashraf, Rehana Aziz, Sukhwant Kour, Dr. Rubi Zutshi, Hina Khan and others recited their poetry. (KNS)
