Srinagar, Jun 4 (KNS): The Employees Association of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Wednesday expressed concern over delays in holding the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings and threatened to explore legal options if their grievances remain unaddressed.
The issue was discussed at a meeting of the association held at Lalmandi here under the chairmanship of its president, Birjees Akhtar.
The members alleged that despite assurances from the authorities, no steps have been taken to convene the DPC, affecting the career progression of eligible employees.
The association said several employees had retired without receiving due promotions, resulting in what it termed as professional and financial losses.
The members also raised concerns over any proposed absorption of outsiders into the academy, claiming such a move could adversely impact promotional prospects of existing employees.

The association urged the authorities to convene the DPC without further delay and ensure timely promotions for eligible staff members.
It also requested the administration not to take any decision that could affect the promotional avenues of employees already serving in the institution.
A resolution adopted at the meeting authorised the association to pursue legal remedies, including approaching courts, besides continuing dialogue and submitting representations to safeguard employees' interests.
The members also appreciated the support extended by the J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on issues concerning employee welfare.
Addressing the meeting, Akhtar said the association would continue to pursue peaceful and democratic means to seek redressal of employees' grievances and ensure fair promotional opportunities for all staff members. (KNS).
