Condemns arrest of Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNS): An emergency meeting Of Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) regarding the arrest of its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was held during relaxation in shutdown given by the unified resistance leadership, which was attended by AAC leaders and activists at the Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal, Srinagar on Friday.
AAC leaders Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Ghulam Qadir Beigh, Mustaq Ahmad Sofi, Advocate Muhammad Ashraf, Advocate Bashir Ahmad Pandit, Advocate Yasir Ahmad Dalaal, Farooq Ahmad Saudagar, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Abdul Rashid Tanki and Muhammad Sidiq Hazaar and others participated in the meeting.
On the occasion, the AAC leaders while strongly condemning the arrest of AAC President and Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said it showed the frustration of the government which Wants to stifle the voice of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir and to crush the ongoing resistance movement.
Stressing that despite knowing the sentiments of people of Kashmir for their right to self determination and fully understanding the disputed nature of Kashmir issue, Government of India (GoI) was misleading both the people of India as well as the international community from Kashmir’s ground reality, the AAC leaders said people of Kashmir had been sacrificing for their right to self determination since 1947 and from its foundation in 1963 AAC its leaders, and workers activists and supporters suffered at the hands of oppressive governments with arrests, torture in interrogations, detentions in jails and curbs on their activities and that these tactics had never been able to cow them down.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During the meeting, the AAC leaders while terming the arrests of their President, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders and workers as worst examples of state terrorism, paid glowing tributes to their passion for resistance and will for offering sacrifices for the people.
They also resolved to take the resistance movement, which had been nourished with the pious blood of the martyrs, to its logical conclusion and said the leadership would not hesitate to offer any type of sacrifice in this regard.
Expressing strong resentment against the fresh killings, beating up of people and arrests of the youth during the past two days, the AAC leaders condemned these incidents of violence.
Meanwhile, in various districts, Tehsils and regions across Kashmir, scores of peaceful processions were held in which people were raising pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans besides condemning the arrest of the AAC President and Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. (KNS)
