Srinagar, Feb 21:(KNS)  Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&KPDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammed Yaseen on Monday stated that political and economic mistakes in past are responsible for backwardness of people in J&K.

 

While addressing political workers in Shamsabad area of Khan Sahib in Budgam district, he said due to absence of political leadership, the people in Jammu and Kashmir have suffered a lot since 1947.

 

“There is a political turmoil and uncertainty in the Valley since 1947 and no serious approach was taken by the previous government regimes,” he said.

 

“Even there were complicated issues across the world than Kashmir which were resolved through peaceful talks. But unfortunately, people of the region were neglected and continue to struggle for their rights,” Hakeem said.

 

The senior political leader said even various agreements were made by the various political parties but nothing was done on the ground in order to heal people.

 

Reacting over the prevailing Hijab row in India, Hakeem said people of the country are being are diverted from the real issues prevailing in the society like rising unemployment, poverty, education and health sectors.

 

He said the row over Hijab has triggered widespread condemnations from Muslim countries and there have been protests against ban on Hijab in some places.

 

“I want clarify my stand that wearing of Hijab is obligatory for Muslims and there will be no compromise on it. We should respect each other’s religious norms and beliefs. India is democratic and secular country,” he said.

 

Hakeem appealed Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah to identify the culprits behind Hijab row and expose those who are adding fuel to the fire.

 

Seeking revocation of the Hijab ban order, he termed it anti-constitutional and against minority rights saying “It was neither restrictive by nature nor an obstacle in education.”

 

J&KPDF Chairman said PM has biggest mandate of people in the country and such issues should be discouraged. “Alienation, depression and political uncertainty among youth of the country should be specially addressed,” he said.

 

Hakeem said there is need for employment generation programmes and economic stability in the country, so that burning issues would be resolved.

 

The senior leader also conducted extensive tour to Khansahib village including Shamabad and Kanshipora areas where he met several public delegations of far-flung areas.

 

Hakeem also expressed sympathy with the party workers who lost their lives in recent past and said that they gave sacrifices for the party. He said party stands with their families and their contribution to the party will be always remembered.(KNS)
