Omar, Jora, Tarigami slam Govt for assembly’s sine die adjournment

Jammu, Feb 01 (KNS): As pandemonium continued due to uproarious scenes from the opposition members the Speaker Kavinder Gupta surprisingly and unexpectedly adjourned assembly sine die.
According to KNS correspondent covering the Assembly proceedings, the Speaker after half an hour adjournment tried his best to start the proceedings but slogans shouting opposition MLAs did not allow the proceedings to continue. Speaker finally adjourned the house sine die.
Meanwhile the opposition has slammed Speaker Assembly for adjourning the house sine die before the scheduled time.
According to KNS correspondent, talking to reporters outside the Assembly, leader of the opposition and National Conference working President Omar Abdullah accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her government of using Speaker for hiding the failures of the government.
Saying that it is for the first time in the parliamentary history of the country that Speaker of any Assembly adjourned the House before the scheduled time and he adjourned House on the directions of the Chief Minister and the parliamentary affairs minister, Omar said “Calendar for the Assembly session comes from the government and it is for the government to ensure the completion of the session in the given time”.
Alleging that Speaker didn’t even today clarify his ruling on the expunging of the remarks of the Chief Minister, Omar said it is distressing that Speaker even today threatened to expunge the remarks of the Chief Minister and as such opposition wanted Chief Minister to come to the house to clarify her stand on her statement.
Replying to a question Omar Abdullah said for the first time I saw some ministers coming to blows and hurling abuses on the members of the assembly.
Disclosing that if need arises National Conference will work in coordination with Congress on the future course of action, Omar said “there is no need to hit streets as people are already suffering from pain and agony but we would use other means to highlight the issue of Article 370 in appropriate forums”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In reply to a question on the deferment of parliamentary bye-elections Omar said “The government which could not face the assembly can’t dare to face elections and so anything is expected from the government which has failed on all fronts.
Endorsing Omar Abdullah on the role of the Government in adjournment of the House sine die Congress legislature party leader Nawang Rigzin Jora told KNS Correspondent outside the Assembly that the adjournment of the House sine die in violation of constitutional procedures is a murder of democracy.
He said that while leader of the opposition Omar Abdullah wanted clarification from the Speaker on verification of records of the Chief Minister’s remarks on Article 370 and the personal appearance of Chief Minister, the Speaker Assembly on the whims and wishes of the government adjourned the House sine die without following the proper procedure.
Dubbing the Speaker an RSS man, Jora said “Marshals were kept alert to harass the opposition members. We asked the Speaker to summon Police, Army and pellets to beat the opposition members. This is a black day in the parliamentary history of the country. Government has failed and so has the Speaker in conducting the proceedings of the House.
According to KNS Correspondent, CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami while talking to reports outside the Assembly said that adjournment of the House sine die is violation of the constitutional procedures and murder of democracy.
Saying that Speaker didn’t listen even a single word from the opposition including leader of the opposition Omar Abdullah, Tarigami blamed the government and the Speaker for the failure for adjournment of the house before the scheduled time. He said as per constitution Speaker was obliged to summon business advisory meeting which among others is represented by ministers but without folding business advisory council meeting he adjourned the House in violation of given procedure and rules.
