The two-day long conclave on theme ‘celebrating motherhood, empowering childhood’ was organised by Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission at SKIICC at Srinagar. The conclave inaugurated by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.              

 

Several delegates including doctors and panellists from Ministry of Family and Health Welfare (MoFHW) participated in the conclave and express views on improving mother and child health care.

 

Moreover, people from different walks of life appreciated NHM for organising such conclave. The audience hails the move of J&KNHM by sharing tweets and posts on multiple social media platforms.                               

 

On second day of conclave, 3 sessions were held on separate topics including, New Born Health issues & challenges; Long COVID-19- Maternal & Paediatric perspective; Early Childhood Development.

 

During discussions on the topic New Born Health issues & challenges, experts emphasised that every new life should be celebrated and this is the aim of India’s new born action plan.

 

“There are several phases during pregnancy, we need to start caring of pregnant ladies since the conception,” they said adding that the all parameters are essential for new life            

 

“Maternal health and long covid is still in research. But the experience has reveals that the mild and moderate disease in pregnant women. There are certain complications,” experts said while discussing on topic long COVID-19- Maternal & Paediatric perspective

 

Earlier, addressing the valedictory session of the conclave, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir would soon witness a golden period in Maternal and Child Health by putting into services the best practices of health sector.

 

On the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar distributed Kayakalp awards to the best performers.

 

‘’Kayakalp’’ initiative was launched by the MoHFW to complement these efforts for promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public healthcare facilities.

 

District hospitals Udhampur got first prize while DH Reasi clinch commendation award. Among Community Health Centres (CHC), Pattan community won first prize.

 

Similarly, the Public Health Centres including, Kharh in district Jammu, PHC Tikri in district Udhampur, PHC Sanoora in district Samba, PHC Budhi in district Kathua, PHC Pouni in district Reasi, PHC Kunzer in Baramulla, PHC Khrew in district Pulwama, PHC Kalambad in district Kupwara, PHC Marhama in district Ananatnag and PHC Babanagri in district Ganderbal emerge as winner for implementing Kayakalp  

 

UPHC Shatri Nagar, UPHC Baramulla, UPHC Hazratbal and UPHC Krishna Colony also bags first prize in the category.  

 

Kathua HWC SC Tarda, Bandipora HWC Nesbal, Reasi HWC Dub, HWC Batera, HWC Mand, HWC Koreg, HWC Rainawari, HWC Wullarhama and HWC Shaloora clinch first prize.   

 

On June 6, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had inaugurated two day J&K's first Maternal and Child Health Conclave here.

 

On the occasion, the Lt Governor had also dedicated Paediatric wards, ICUs, Maternal ICUs to the public.

 

Mission Director National Health Mission J&K, Yasin M. Choudhary, Joint Secretary (RCH) Ministry of Health & family Welfare, GoI, Dr P. Ashok Babu among other experts and panellists also spoke on the occasion.

 

The two day event was packed with the below technical sessions viz: Situational Analysis of Maternal Health in J&K; Rising Trend of Caesarean Section-Boon or Bane; Maternal Mortality-Causes and Challenges; Newborn Health: Issues & Challenges; Long COVID-19-Maternal & Pediatric Perspective and Early Childhood Development (ECD).(KNS)
