Poonch, May 29 (KNS): Headed by Youth National Conference leader, people from different areas of Poonch today demanded an audit of all the recently completed and ongoing road projects of General Reserve Engineering Force alleging poor quality work and construction of road in such alignments which was not approved.
Members of this deputation were from different areas of Poonch especially in Saujiyan, Loran and Mandi belts.
Earlier these people called upon Youth National Conference Provincial President Ajaz Jan at his office and raised their respective issued but sensing the gravity of the situation, it was decided that issue will be raised before district administration for which a deputation headed by Youth National Conference Provincial President Ajaz Jan called upon Deputy Commissioner Poonch in his office.
During the half an hour long meet, participants of meeting including Youth National Conference leader Ajaz Jan put forth a demand of audit of all GREF roads in the district to bring out the hidden skeletons inside the cupboard.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“There is hardly any quality in GREF works and they don't even hesitate in mixing clay with sand openly” participants of the deputation said.
Further hinting towards change of alignments, it was alleged that in many road projects, approved alignment was ignored which is grave violation of norms.
Delay in disbursement of compensation for several road projects was also raised in this meeting wherein Deputy Commissioner was urged upon to inquire why compensation of most of the roads is pending even after years which include Gali to Anganpatri road.
People of Saujiyan also demanded probe/inquiry in to the bridge work of Khet and Gali-Madian.
Ajaz Jan, besides all these issues, also asked Deputy Commissioner Poonch to screen the list of daily wagers of GREF in Poonch district and to ensure that all those people work on roads are included in the list.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohd Harun assured the deputation that all their demands will be taken on priority. (KNS)
