Poonch, Jul 14 (KNS): Terming dilapidated road stretches in different areas of Poonch as death traps for public, Youth National Conference leader Ajaz Jan here has called for safety audits of roads and has castigated state government for its complete failure to repair the roads which got damaged in 2014 floods and 2015 incessant rains.
Jan said this in a statement to KNS after completion of two days visit of Poonch and Mandi area of the district.
Jan said that roads are a basic developmental element and good road network of any area opens new door of development.
Situation is not good when it comes to Poonch and poor road condition expose callous approach of Government and it's step motherly treatment with people of Poonch” Jan said.
He further alleged that government is run horses of big claims on paper but on ground, things are contrary in terms of road network.
“Road in Arai belt of Mandi was damaged in flash flood years ago and is yet to be repaired while Shahpur road damaged in 2014 is still craving for Government's attention” Jan said further adding that a dream of a link road in Bhainch village is yet to get complete.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Jan also said that not only of state government departments, but condition of main road from Poonch to Chandak maintained by BRO also exposes callous approach of central departments towards Poonch's road connectivity.
“People move over these dilapidated roads, which can prove death traps at anytime, and Government is least bothered” Jan said pressing a need to give priority to improve existing network rather than starting new projects for publicity and ignoring the old ones.
He also sought intervention of any central investigation agency to probe the utilization of funds for road maintenance in Poonch hinting alleged misuse of the same by different departments. (KNS)
