Lucknow, March 23 (KNS): A press delegation from Jammu, on a five-day media tour organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Jammu, on Monday visited the Khadi India Jute Centre at Bulbulpur-Rasulpur Sadat on the outskirts of Lucknow.
The centre is run by Anjali Singh, known as “Jute Wali Anjali.” The delegation observed how the Government of India’s SFURTI scheme (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is supporting women artisans. The project received financial assistance of about ?4.47 crore in 2021, which helped set up infrastructure and production facilities.
Officials said organisations like the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and the National Jute Board provided technical support, training, and market linkages. The delegation later visited Barabanki and met Padma Shri awardee Ram Saran Verma, known for his work in farming. The team toured his farm and saw the use of tissue culture for growing crops like banana in the region. Verma, often referred to as the “Banana King of Uttar Pradesh,” shared his experience with the visiting journalists.
He stressed the importance of farmer education, training, and support. He also spoke about the role of government schemes such as PM-KISAN, Fasal Bima Yojana, Soil Health Card, Kisan Credit Card, and PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana in improving farm income and food security.
The media delegation will continue its tour over the next four days, visiting different locations in the state and interacting with officials and beneficiaries of public welfare schemes to understand their impact at the ground level.(KNS)
