Srinagar, Aug 29 (KNS): The Jammu Bandh call given by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, evoked mixed response on Monday.

The Bandhcall has been given by Bar Association Jammu in protest against “non-serious attitude of the Government” towards their demands and issues.

Some organizations and political parties have also extended support to the Bandh call.

Markets are partially open. The videos and photographs also show that markets are open Narmal Mandi while transport is also plying on the roads.

“We have support of almost all the traders’ organizations as well as Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In case the Government shows some interest in mitigating our grievances before August 29, we will revisit our decision”, President of the Bar Association M.K Bhardwaj had said.

The main demand of the Bar is construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work— registration work, Commissions, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises at Janipur.

“After the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu is witnessing tremendous progress in terms of trade, economy, employment and improvement of infrastructure. These lawyers have given bandh call for their own interests. If I will close my shop during day what I will feed my family in evening,” said one of the shopkeepers who like other hundreds of people defied the Bandh call.(KNS)
