“Lala served Urdu language and used to call spade a spade”: Qayoom Wani

Srinagar February 01:(KNS) Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Chairman, Abdul Qayoom Wani has expressed grief over the demise of Mehraj ud din Wani alias Lala , the senior most journalist and the Editor in Chief of local Urdu Daily Srinagar News.

 

In a statement issued here Abdul Qayoom Wani termed the deceased as a veteran and brave journalist of his prime time who served Urdu language through his newspaper and used to call spade a spade. Wani said that the deceased was the man of courage and has contributed a lot not only to the field of journalism but to the society in general by way of reformation and human services. Wani said that the senior journalist, Mehraj Ud Din always highlighted the miseries of Kashmiri people with a sense of belonging in diverse forms.

Former trade union leader Wani, recalling the good days of friendship with late Chief Editor said that his friendship was like a sooth to the tiring minds and now his death stroke as a personal loss. Wani in person and on behalf of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and journalist fraternity especially the family members living at Shahabad Kathidarwaza Srinagar, Noor Mohammad Wani, brother of Meraj Ud Din Wani and Mohammad Iqbal Wani son of Mehraj Ud Din wani.
