Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNS): A high level delegation of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir led by its political bureau head Advocate Zahid Ali Thursday visited the five bereaved families whose near and dear ones were recently killed in indiscriminate and unjustified firing by the Indian forces in Awoora (Arif Hussain Dar), Shalapora (Muhammad Iqbal Pir), Nagri (Jehangir Ahmad Wani), Handwara (Nayeem Qadir Bhat) and Langate (Raja Begum)in kupwara district when they protested against the molestation of a local girl by an army personnel.
In a statement issued to KNS, JeI said that instead of taking prompt and just action against the said personnel, the army resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing quite in arrogance of legal sanction and beyond any lawful authority thereby killing five innocent persons including an old-aged woman who was hit by a stray bullet while collecting vegetables in her farm about 2 Km’s away from the spot of incident.
“One youth viz Jehangir Ahmad Wani was killed in cold blood while he was coming out of his native village Nagri alongwith another local youth confronting a patrol party of the Indian forces. Another youth namely Muhammad Iqbal Pir was hit by a bullet while after closing his shop just in front of the army bunker in Handwara Chowk, he was walking towards the bunker,” they said.
They said that instead of containing the public protest in any conventional and democratic way, taking undue advantage of AFSPA unnecessary force has been used which resulted in the loss of precious human lives.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The AFSPA is one of the most draconian laws in the world which gives unbridled authority to the armed forces to kill any innocent person under the shade of the security of the state,” the said.
