Sopore, Nov 20 (KNS): The residents of main chowk Sopore have been facing tough times due to water leakage from a damaged water pipe, which has resulted in waterlogging in the heart of apple town.

The residents told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the consumers have been facing water shortage as well due to the leakage in main water pipe at main chowk, which has also resulted in water logging in the area. 

"The damage in the water pipe has also created water shortage in the main town, while Jal Shakti department has been sleeping over the issue even after being apprised several times," they said. 

They said that even after being apprised of the issue several times, the concerned department has failed to restore the damaged water pipe, thereby putting residents into a lot of inconvenience. 

“They don’t pay any heed towards the damaged pipe line and the leakage that too in the heart of the town A major supply line got damaged at main chowk and flooded the entire road stretch. While as similar condition is being witnessed at Amargrah near J&K Bank Zonal office," said Mohammed Shafi, a local resident. 

Meanwhile, an official of Jal Shakti department Sopore said that the restoration process has been halted as R&B department was not permitting them to dig the roads. “We have already taken note of it and all these damaged pipes will be restored soon," he assured. (KNS)
