Srinagar, July 29 (KNS): Jahangir Mir DG Sports has been elected as Vice President of school games federation of India.
The election to the office bearers of federation takes place after every 4 years. This time Mir made it to the prestigious position for next 4 years term. SGFI is a nation level institution to monitor and organise all national / international level games for about 134 No of discipline in the country including 54 disciplines in J & K State.
Mir's performance was applauded by SGFI authorities & his work during last one year was found upto the mark, making his way through to the prestigious assignment. The federation election was held on 25/06/2016.
The SGFI while appreciating the performance of Mir has placed on record his appreciable performance & conveyed congratulations to Hon'ble Minister Youth Services & Sports Molvey Imran Raza Ansari & Mr. Jahangir Mir for making out to the prestigious position.
It was during his tenure that canvas of activities was broadened from 17 discipline to 44 during the year 2016 & about 2.42 lac student players participated during the year in different games.
The department participated in 36 national events & won 38 medals in gold , bronze &
Silver while participation of 1235 student players boys/girls in the nationals was recorded held in different states of the country .Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelScholarship worth Rs 18.65 lacs was awarded to the them. RGKA scheme practically took off during 2016 and activists were held at Block/ Distt/ State and national level first time in the state with good number of women participation, thereby focusing on women empowerment.
3 national events with record number of participation were hosted by the state during last year, inaugurated by then HCM and Hon'ble Governor.
Food & Refreshment charges was raised from Rs 50 to Rs 125.
330 play fields were developed during 2016 under state and Distt plan in the state besides 7 big projects sanctioned under RGKA which now are being take up under new scheme Khalo India after dovetailing the same . Besides, flood damaged infrastructure was restored on priority.
About 192 lecturers & 800 teachers were appointed through PSC and SSRB and orders issue, besides proposal for engagement of 5931 posts of teachers as (Rehberi khel) was submitted to government for engagement to cover uncovered middle schools of state. In case this meets the approval of authorities, no PET graduate will remain jobless. (KNS)
