J&K Showcases Tourism Potential at Global FITUR Fair in Madrid

 New Delhi, Jan 27 (KNS) ; The Department of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir, marked a significant presence at the premier international tourism trade fair, FITUR 2026, held at IFEMA Madrid earlier this week.

 
The delegation aimed to position the region as a premier global travel destination.
 
Led by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, the delegation included Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism (Kashmir), and Ajaz Kaiser Malik, Joint Director Tourism (Jammu), alongside prominent local tour operators.
 
The inaugural ceremony of the meticulously designed Jammu & Kashmir stall on January 21st was attended by senior officials from the Indian Embassy in Spain, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and leading international tour operators.
 
A major highlight of the stall was the innovative introduction of Virtual Reality (VR) experiences by the J&K Tourism Department. The offering of traditional Kashmiri Kehwa tea emerged as a particularly popular attraction, drawing consistent appreciation.
 
To foster strategic partnerships, the department hosted a high-profile networking event for tour operators and media representatives on January 22nd. The gathering was graced by the Ambassador of India to Spain and Wani. 
 
Further strengthening international promotional efforts, the Advisor attended a high-level meeting on tourism promotion hosted by the Indian Embassy in Spain. Throughout the five-day fair, Wani also held a series of meetings with prominent global tour operators and media personnel to discuss collaborative opportunities. (KNS)
