Srinagar, Jun 2 (KNS) : Jammu and Kashmir’s education and health minister, Sakina Itoo, announced on Tuesday a sharp turnaround in college admissions across the Union Territory, with enrolments rising over seven percent in the first round itself—reversing a declining trend seen in recent years.
“This year, due to the decisions taken to ease and simplify the admission process in government degree colleges across J&K, we have witnessed a significant increase in student enrolment,” Itoo said in a post on X as per KNS.
“By the completion of the admission process, we expect total admissions to cross 55,000 by the end of June, representing nearly a 20 percent increase over the previous year,” she added.
Minister Itoo said the encouraging response reflects the success of the government’s efforts to make higher education more accessible, transparent, and student-friendly across Jammu and Kashmir.
“We remain committed to ensuring that every aspiring student gets an opportunity to pursue quality higher education,” the minister said. (KNS)
