SRINAGAR, May 15 (KNS): The Jammu & Kashmir Civil Engineers Government Association (J&K CEGA) has reconstituted its core team and called for urgent institutional reforms, including revival of professional dignity and implementation of assured career progression for engineers, following an extraordinary meeting of its elected body and senior engineers from the PWD and Jal Shakti departments.
The meeting, chaired by association president Er Farooq Ahmad Ganie, decided to dissolve the existing Executive Council and constitute a new Core Team to ensure wider representation and revitalise the organisation. The newly formed Core Team includes Er Nasir Amin as Chief Patron, Er Syed Ishfaq and Er Zubair Naqash as Vice Presidents, Er Mudassir Mushtaq Untoo as Additional General Secretary, and Er Malik Mudassir as Joint Secretary.
Deliberations at the meeting highlighted several pressing concerns, including the alleged compromise of engineers’ professional status despite their consistent performance under challenging circumstances, the growing trend of “incharge promotions” becoming permanent while regularisation remains neglected, and the urgent need for assured career progression. The meeting also stressed strengthening engineering unity across departments and organising regular seminars and technical interactions.
The association resolved to form district-level executive bodies comprising committed engineers in the first phase. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment towards unity, institutional accountability, and safeguarding collective interests of the engineering fraternity in Jammu & Kashmir, officials said.
