J&K Budget charts new development roadmap for J&K: NC MPs

 Srinagar, 11 Feb (KNS): The Members of Parliament belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference have warmly welcomed and strongly appreciated the Budget 2026-27 presented by Chief Minister and Finance Minister Omar Abdullah, describing it as a people-friendly, inclusive and forward-looking financial roadmap aimed at accelerating socio-economic transformation across Jammu and Kashmir.

In a joint statement, party MPs stated that the Budget reflects a balanced blend of fiscal prudence and welfare prioritisation. They observed that the Budget lays special emphasis on inclusive growth, poverty alleviation, employment generation, infrastructure expansion and strengthening of public service delivery mechanisms.

 
The MPs particularly appreciated the announcement of 32 landmark welfare initiatives designed to provide direct relief to economically weaker sections. These include six free LPG cylinders annually for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families, full fee reimbursement through Direct Benefit Transfer for students belonging to AAY households, and sponsorship support for 6,000 orphaned children. They noted that such measures would significantly reduce financial stress on vulnerable families and promote social equity.
 
The NC MPs also lauded the government’s focus on healthcare expansion, including the establishment of emergency and trauma hospitals in border districts such as Uri and Poonch, strengthening of medical colleges, and the provision of advanced diagnostic facilities. They termed these initiatives as vital steps toward improving access to quality healthcare, especially in remote and sensitive areas.
 
Highlighting the emphasis on education and digital empowerment, the MPs welcomed the introduction of the JK e-Pathshala DTH platform to ensure curriculum-based education even in areas lacking internet connectivity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelInvestments in school infrastructure, sports facilities and Anganwadi upgrades were described as crucial interventions for holistic child development and youth empowerment. The Budget’s thrust on agriculture, horticulture and rural development was also commended. 
 
The MPs appreciated the introduction of weather-based crop insurance for horticulture, expansion of controlled atmosphere storage facilities and enhanced support for irrigation and allied sectors, which they said would strengthen rural livelihoods and enhance farmers’ income security.
 
They further praised the renewed focus on youth engagement and employment generation through skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and mission-mode initiatives aimed at harnessing the demographic dividend of Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Describing the Budget as a comprehensive blueprint for equitable development and economic resilience, the NC MPs said that it reflects the National Conference government’s commitment to delivering on its promises and addressing the aspirations of every section of society. They expressed confidence that under Omar Abdullah’s leadership, the implementation of this Budget would usher in a new era of growth, stability and social justice in Jammu and Kashmir.
 
The MPs reiterated their full support for the effective execution of the Budget proposals and reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively for the welfare, dignity and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
