IYC Files FIR Against Amit Malviya, Arnab Goswami Over Alleged Fake News


Srinagar May 21 (KNS): The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has filed a police complaint against BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya and Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, accusing them of spreading false and provocative information online.

According to media reports, the FIR was lodged by IYC legal cell head Shrikant Swaroop B N at High Grounds police station. The complaint has been registered under Sections 192 (provocation with intent to cause riot) and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The case revolves around a claim shared online suggesting that the Istanbul Congress Centre in Turkiye is the office of the Indian National Congress — a statement the IYC called “fabricated and misleading.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Swaroop, in a statement, alleged that the act was "criminally motivated" and intended to provoke unrest and mislead the public. He also noted that the incident comes at a time of strained relations between India and Turkiye, calling the alleged misinformation a threat to democratic integrity.

The IYC has also urged the Press Council of India, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the CBI, and other authorities to take immediate action.(KNS)
