Islamic Scholar Among 4 Killed After Vehicle Plunges Into Gorge in Udhampur

Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): Four persons, including three members of a family, died after their car met with an accident in Champari area of Udhampur on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Monday.


"Four people were traveling in a car from Sangaldan to Jammu when it skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Prem Mandir, Champari, promoting authorities to launch massive rescue operation during which two dead bodies were recovered," a official told the Kashmir News Service (KNS).

"However during rescue operation, two more persons were rescued and were subsequently shifted to hospital Udhampur where they succumbed," he said.

The deceased were identified as Islamic scholar Mufti Jamal Din of Sangaldan, his wife Hajira Begum and their son Mufti Abdul Hamid, and Tadil, son of Gulzar Malik, also a resident of Sangaldan.

Meanwhile a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation has been set into motion.(KNS).
