Srinagar, Mar 9 (KNS) : Marking the commencement of the new academic session, a vibrant inaugural ceremony was organized at Iqbal Public High School in the Soura area here on Monday, where students were welcomed with great enthusiasm following the annual winter break.
The ceremony, aimed at fostering a positive educational environment, commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran. The first session featured speeches, interactive question-and-answer sessions, and Naat presentations by both students and faculty members. The second phase of the program was highlighted by the presentation of the school anthem, a literary composition by the late Professor Margub Banhali.
Eminent personalities from the fields of education and religion addressed the gathering.
Noted scholar and Head Mufti of Madrasa Siraj Uloom, Mufti Muhammad Sultan, presided over the function.
In his address, he enlightened the young minds about the importance of morals, manners, and character building in academic life.
Delivering the presidential address, Mufti Muhammad Sultan emphasized the role of ethical conduct in shaping a student's future.
Addressing the students, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai, former head of the University of Kashmir’s Iqbal Institute, inspired the children to emulate the vision of Allama Iqbal.

Renowned social activist Dr. Zameer Ahmad Bhatt educated the students on the benefits and significance of time management, while educationist Sufi Ali Muhammad underscored the importance of the first day of the academic session for children's holistic development.
School Secretary Javed Matjee extended a formal welcome to the guests, terming their presence a "good omen" for the school and the new academic term.
As part of the celebrations, a prize distribution ceremony was held to encourage academic excellence and discipline. Fawzan, a seventh-grade student, received a special award for being the first to enter the school in the new session. Additionally, dozens of certificates, gifts, and medals were distributed to students who achieved top positions in the previous session's examinations. Recognition was also given to students who excelled in health and hygiene, punctuality, and other co-curricular domains.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Fowkiya Farooq, who expressed gratitude to the parents and students for their participation. (KNS)
