Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): The Police on Tuesday said that it has initiated an investigation into the firing incident at South Kashmir’s Ashmuqam in which two people sustained bullet injuries.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Javed Mujtaba Gilani told KNS that an investigation has been ordered into the firing incident and only after the inquiry, facts could come to fore. “So far, there has been an investigation ordered into the firing episode. Let us wait till probe report is received.”
Kashmir’s top cop added that at Ashmuqam, a cordon was laid by the forces on Tuesday during which violent clashes in the area erupted. “There has been a firing during the incident,” IG said.
Pertinently, at least two youth were y injured in firing by forces in Ashmuqam after stone pelting between the protestors and forces erupted in the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Earlier, forces laid a cordon and search operation in the area following information about presence of militants. Soon after the police lunched search operation, clashes erupted between youth and forces at Iram Colony, Ashmuqam in the wee hours of the morning.
The injured youth who were identified as Javaid Ahmad Wani, 22, a resident of Magray Mohalla and 20-year-old Amir Ahmad Sheikh were hospitalized.
Wani, who according to the reports received a bullet in his neck, has been shifted to Srinagar for treatment; while Sheikh was admitted at District Hospital Anantnag. (KNS)
