Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNS): Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Monday slammed government for imposing three day internet ban in Jammu and Kashmir on Eid-ul-Azha.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement issued to KNS said that gag on internet was “unethical” as he alleged that patients were denied of access to medical services.
“Patient care was worst hit and patients suffered the worst consequences of internet blockade across Kashmir,” he said.
He said that patients use internet as health care tool for self-care management thus minimizing the need for direct patient-physician interaction.
“Patients consult their doctors through internet and this higher level of participation improves communication and patient satisfaction. They (Patients) discuss problems with their doctors and receive treatment for various ailments through internet” he said.
He said that the timely titration of medicines of critical diseases like hypertension and diabetes is done by patients through internet which is life saving.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Doctors check online drug dosing, adverse events, interactions and treatments guidelines during patient visits. Internet is a source of huge health information for doctors to update knowledge for better health outcomes which in turn strengthens doctor-patient relationship. Many students missed the opportunity of appearing for various online examinations due to internet blockade” he said.
“People could not reach their homes on Eid because they could not book their tickets online. Even people could not wish Eid greetings to their loved ones because communication was blocked. This autocratic step to block all communications is a testimony to the fact that Kashmir is a big jail where people are caged and deprived of all rights” he added.
