Baramulla, July 15 (KNS): An impactful Awareness Programme on Internet Addiction and its Impact on Health, Behaviour, and Academic Performance among School Children was successfully conducted today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rohama. The programme was organized in collaboration with the Civil Defence organisation, Baramulla, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, along with faculty members, Civil Defence wardens, and the school principal.
The session highlighted the growing concerns surrounding excessive internet and mobile phone use, drawing attention to its adverse effects on mental and physical health, behavioural issues, and academic and occupational challenges faced by adolescents. The programme emphasized the need for early identification, parental awareness, and preventive behavioural strategies to mitigate the rising tide of digital addiction in youth.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Anayat Mir, noted practicing dermatologist and Civil Defence Chief Warden, who served as the main resource person. His insightful presentation blended clinical evidence with real-life anecdotes to underscore the silent but serious threat of internet overuse.
The programme concluded with a lively interactive session, where students actively participated, asked questions, and signed up for the upcoming Civil Defence training modules.
The school administration, led by the Principal Sajad Ahmad Lone and Vice Principal Hina Batool expressed gratitude to the Civil Defence organisation and Dr. Anayat for spearheading this important initiative.
