Srinagar, Feb 21 (KNS): Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), the oldest and biggest literary and cultural organization of Jammu and Kashmir, which represents nearly 1100 writers, poets and scholars of Kashmiri language joined Campaign for Language Equality and Rights (CLEAR), a forum for language rights activists throughout India.
AMK joined CLEAR at a press meet at the Press Club of India in New Delhi and literary and cultural organization was represented by noted writer and poet, Fayaz Dilbar.
At the press meet, CLEAR released a list of demands on language rights called Delhi Demands of Language Rights.
The CLEAR was represented by 40 languages with one representative representing a language.
Besides Kashmiri language which was represented by Fayaz Dilbar, representatives all over India represented other prominent languages including Angika, Assamese, Baduga, Bengali, Bhanjara, Bhojpuri, Bhundeli, Chaudari Bhili, Chhatishgari, Dehvali Bhili,Dogri, Gharwali, Gondi, Gujarati, Halbi, Hindi, Ho, Kannada, Kashmiri, Kodava, Konkani, Kosali, Koya, Kuki, Kumaoni, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mundari, Nagamese, Odia, Punjabi, Santali, Sourastri, Tamil, Telugu, Tulu, Urdu and Vajjika.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Speaking on the occasion, Dilbar said Kashmiri language is one of the oldest living languages of the world and every care should be taken so that it is properly preserved and propagated among the youth.
Demanding a classical status to Kashmiri language, Dilbar said one should understand the importance of mother tongue as it is easy to express ideas and thoughts besides communicating with the masses in the mother tongue than any other language.
Later, the representatives participated in a public event at Jantar Mantar where people of various language groups gathered and held a candlelight vigil for the memories of those who dedicated and sacrificed their lives for the rights of their languages. (KNS)
