Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNS): The government railway police Kashmir (GRPK) on Saturday claimed to have busted interlinked gang of thieves involved in the theft of OHE copper wire by arrested 21 accused persons involved in the crime in various parts of Kashmir. 
 
According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) SSP GRPK had constituted 03 separate teams sub-division wise led by the concerned SHO's and supervised by the concerned SDPO's after the concerned company, hired for installation of OHE wires, reported about theft. 

The statement reads that the teams after strenuous efforts cracked the theft cases by arresting 21 accused persons involved in the commission of crime. "Stolen property of OHE wire 388 Kgs, worth Rs. 3,56,572- was also recovered from them, weapon of offences including cutter, hexa-blades, gloves and ropes along with 04 load carriers utilized for the transportation of stolen property were also seized," it reads. 
 
As per the statement, the job installation of OHE copper wire by railway authorities through M/S R.S. Infra private limited company has been under progress from Baramulla to Banihal since September, 2021.

"While the job of the installation of wire was being carried out by the agency it was reported by them that during night hours, unknown thieves have committed theft of OHE copper wire in Sopore, Pattan, Budgam, Srinagar and Bijbehara area."

It reads that on the basis of the written reports received from the company, 09 cases (04 in 2021 and 05 in 2022) were registered in GRPS of Baramulla, Hamray, Srinagar and Anantnag and investigation was set into motion. (KNS)
