Army celebrates 68th republic day with ‘Awaam’ in valley

Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNS): The 68th Republic Day was celebrated with characteristic ‘zeal and patriotic fervour’ all across the Kashmir Valley with the Army and Awaam sharing the spirit of the Day with befitting solemnity and bonhomie.
In a statement issued to KNS, army claims that, even the continuous rains and snow couldn't dampen the spirits and the snow all around only provided a very apt background to the tri colour, symbol of peace, prosperity and sacrifice hoisted with pride in different parts of the Valley including remote areas.
The gatherings all across also paid tributes to the soldiers and civilians lost in yesterday's avalanches and prayed for the safety of others who were still missing.
Commemorative functions were organized at Baramula, Kupwara, Awantipura and Shalatang under the aegis of respective units and in various Army Goodwill Schools which were attended by a large number of children, youth, elderly and officials from the civil administration.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
As a goodwill gesture, the Indian and Pak troops also exchanged sweets at Kaman and Tithwal.
On this auspicious occasion, Lt Gen JS Sandhu, the Chinar Corps Commander extended his greetings to the brave and dedicated personnel and families of the Chinar Corps as also the other comrades in arms in Kashmir. The General officer also conveyed his warm greetings to the Awaam of Kashmir and reassured them of their Army’s commitment towards their Safety, Security, dignity and wellbeing. (KNS)
