India-Pakistan Tensions Rise as Ceasefire Violations Continue Along LoC

Srinagar, May 02 (KNS): Pakistani troops continued to violate the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of May 1-2, 2025, by opening fire in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. According to the Indian Army, unprovoked small arms firing took place from Pakistani posts opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor.

The Indian Army said it responded in a calm and measured way. Earlier, the firing was limited to Kupwara, Poonch, and Rajouri, but it has now spread to the Baramulla district, showing signs of increasing tension.
This is the eighth straight night of firing across the LoC. As a result, people living in border villages are preparing underground bunkers, fearing the situation may get worse.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have been rising since the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMilitants with reported links to Pakistan killed 25 tourists and a local pony operator in the Baisaran meadow area.

In response to the attack, India took several strong steps. It suspended the Indus Water Treaty, reduced diplomatic ties, closed the Attari-Wagah border crossing, and ordered Pakistani nationals to leave the country.

Pakistan responded by closing its airspace to Indian airlines, suspending trade with India, and warning that any attempt to stop the flow of water under the Indus Waters Treaty would be treated as an “act of war.”
Even after top military officers from both sides spoke over a hotline to ease the tension, the firing has continued. The ceasefire agreement signed in 2021 is now under serious strain. (KNS)
