In Bandipora, PHC Lacks basic facility of Doctor,medical staff

Bandipora, Nov 06 (KNS): The Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Chuntimulla, a remote belt of north kashmir's Bandipora district is running without a doctor and Medical staff from the last seven months. Around 22,000  population of five villages are now fed up of health care facilities.

According to Kashmir News Service Correspondent, “Patients visiting this Government Health centre are not getting treatment due to unavailability of doctor and other Medical Representatives.
Poor patients who visit this hospital bear the brunt due to financial Problems as to get treatment from a private hospital or nursing home.

Locals said that the hospital witness absence of a doctor from the past seven months which has put the whole remote area in trouble.Patients having minor common cold ,fever and Accidental cases are suffering the most due to absence of doctor in the PHC and they  have to travel at least 15 km to get even primary treatment at Bandipora hospital, they said.

They said all the doctors have been withdrawn from here since the outbreak of Covid-19. No doctor has been posted here by the administration since then we are becoming helpless each passing day.

The PHC Was initially 18 Bedded and later it was upgraded to 33 beds but We fail to understand what was the purpose of upgrading this PHC if it does not have any doctor? ask villagers.

The locals also said that they have repeatedly raised the problem with the district health authorities, but they Didn't got any satisfied revert from Authorities.

However When contacted health official, He said that one of Medical officer posted at PHC was recently transferred to other area and accordingly another was ordered to replace the same however he still did not joined his duties.we have several times written to him to join for his duties but till there was no response from him.

Asked about other staff, he said they have put them on covid duty, we will re-assign them to their respective duties soon.(KNS)
