In a first Tangdhar hosts 5-day NCC camp

Karnah, Sep 30 (KNS): The 3 J&K Batallion NCC Baramula is conducting a Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) consisting of 100 boys and 50 girl cadets along with 100 local cadets from Tangdhar September 29 to October 05 in the Karnah near the Line of Control in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Officials told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the Camp site in the Valley of Karnah is located in one of the remotest areas of Kupwara, which gives the NCC cadets an exposure to life in these far flung areas as also an opportunity to interact with the local NCC cadets thus creating an everlasting bond and a feeling of camaraderie.

They said that the CATC is being conducted under the aegis of NCC Group Srinagar, DDG JK&L directorate and Army formation at Tangdhar. “The security forces at Tangdhar have been kind to assist the conduct of this camp by providing security, infrastructure and administrative support.”

They said that the NCC Cadets, both boys and girls from schools & colleges of Uri, Kupwara, Handwara, Sopore, Pattan, Baramulla, Pehalgam, Anantnag, Qazigund, Pulwama, Shopian, Chowkibal, Jammu and border towns of Tangdhar are participating in this camp with the main objective of amalgamating the youth of Kashmir and giving them an opportunity and a unique experience along the Line of Control.

“During the conduct of the camp, the cadets apart from undergoing basic training like PT, drill and weapon training will undergo training on Rock climbing, trekking and visit to the Model village of Teethwal. Besides this, social activities like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will also be conducted and the Cadets will get an opportunity to showcase their talent in competing with the local NCC cadets in Painting and Debate competition.”

The officials said that the cadets will also get an opportunity to be introduced to the life of the Army along the Line of Control and an opportunity to interact with Lady Officers with an aim to motivate them to join and serve the nation in one of the finest organizations - The Armed Forces.

“The five day camp spreads a feeling of Nationalistic fervor, unity and camaraderie amongst the Cadets from different parts of the state as also inspires them to join the Armed Forces with a glimpse of life along the border areas,” they said. (KNS)
