Imran Ansari exposes "Act of Political Surgery" as J&K Govt erases proposed amendments by Peoples Conference

Srinagar, Feb 3 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari on Tuesday strongly condemned the elected government for striking out critical constitutional demands from the Motion of Thanks in the J&K Assembly, terming it an act of political capitulation.

In a hard-hitting statement issued here, Ansari disclosed that while JKPC President Sajad Lone had placed six clear, principled interventions before the Assembly during the Motion of Thanks, each exposing what the Address had deliberately chosen to ignore, the government conducted what he described as a "quiet but unmistakable act of political surgery" by deleting the most fundamental demands.

"The restoration of Article 370 and Article 35-A, the return of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir and Rationalisation of Reservation were struck out," Ansari revealed, emphasizing that these were not marginal or negotiable points but represented "the central wound of August 2019, the rupture of constitutional identity, dignity and self-respect that the people have never stopped demanding to be healed."

JKPC General Secretary asserted that erasing these demands, along with calls for rationalisation of reservation and fair intra-district and intra-divisional recruitment, was not an exercise in procedure or moderation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"It is surrender disguised as governance," he stated categorically.

Raising fundamental questions about the functioning of democratic institutions, Ansari remarked "When even a polite expression of 'regret' over the silence on these foundational issues is deemed too dangerous to enter the official record, the question must be asked: what remains of democratic accountability?"

In an unsparing critique, he declared that the government has now drawn its boundaries with precision. "Its comfort zone ends exactly where Delhi's red lines begin. The illusion has collapsed. The mask has slipped," Ansari said.

The JKPC General Secretary asserted that the people now see clearly that this administration "is neither willing nor serious about public aspirations, nor about restoring fairness in reservations and employment, nor about bringing back full statehood."

"It will manage discontent not address the demands of the people Jammu & Kashmir," he added, concluding with a sharp rebuke "Shame on those who claim otherwise."(KNS)
