Tangmarg, May 22 (KNS): Acting against the growing menace of illegal constructions in eco-sensitive areas of Tangmarg, the local administration has launched a coordinated drive to monitor and act against violators. On Wednesday, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gulmarg led a team that seized several properties found in violation of zoning laws and construction guidelines.
Officials told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that this action is part of a broader campaign involving multiple departments to tackle unregulated development. “Illegal constructions not only breach government rules but also endanger the ecological balance and structural safety of the region,” an official said.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gulmarg Development Authority, Tariq Hussain, reaffirmed the administration’s firm stance. “We have already issued prior notices and no violator will be spared. All constructions are being closely monitored, and the toughest possible action will follow confirmed violations,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The CEO urged public cooperation and awareness, stressing the need to follow zoning laws for the protection of Gulmarg’s environment. “This is not just law enforcement — it’s about safeguarding the future of this beautiful region,” he added.
The SDM further informed that all ongoing and upcoming constructions will undergo strict scrutiny for zoning compliance, environmental clearances, and legal permissions.
Amid rising concerns over unregulated development in tourist hotspots like Gulmarg and Tangmarg, authorities have advised residents not to start any construction without proper approvals. The public has also been encouraged to report any illegal activity to help preserve the region’s ecological integrity.
