Jammu, Dec 09 (KNS): Inspector General of Police, Traffic J&K, M. Suleman Choudhary (IPS) chaired an important review meeting in Jammu to assess and strengthen the traffic management system across the city.
The meeting was attended by DIG Traffic Range Jammu Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal (IPS), SSP Traffic City Jammu Amit Bhasin (JKPS), Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu Arvinder Singh Kotwal (JKPS), along with all DySPs and DTIs of Traffic City Jammu.
During the meeting, the IGP Traffic directed officers to identify major congestion points, study their root causes and implement practical, time-bound solutions. He stressed the need for a problem-solving approach to ensure smooth vehicular movement across the city.
He emphasized that a strong and visible presence of Traffic Police personnel—especially DTIs and DySPs—during peak hours and at sensitive junctions is essential. Their active presence, he said, helps regulate traffic, assist commuters and maintain discipline on the roads.

With winter migration and an expected rise in traffic volume approaching, the IGP Traffic directed officers to stay fully prepared for peak movement days, festive rush and tourist inflow.
He further instructed the Traffic City team to improve junction management using both manual regulation and available technology, ensure quick clearance of stalled vehicles and unauthorized parking, intensify action against over-speeding and wrong-lane driving and maintain close coordination with district police, municipal bodies and other agencies.
The IGP Traffic also stressed the need for regular field supervision, daily monitoring of busy corridors and immediate corrective measures wherever required. Officers were asked to submit detailed decongestion plans with clear timelines.
The meeting concluded with all officers reaffirming their commitment to deliver safe, smooth and citizen-friendly traffic management across Jammu City.
