Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNS) : With a string of significant events lined up in the Valley, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Wednesday chaired a comprehensive security review at the Police Control Room (PCR) here, calling for heightened vigilance, sharper intelligence gathering, and robust synergy among all security agencies.
The high-level meeting, convened in view of the forthcoming crucial occasions, witnessed participation from senior functionaries of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Intelligence Bureau, Army, Railway Police, and CAPF units deployed across the Kashmir Zone.
IGP Birdi conducted a threadbare assessment of the existing security matrix and took first-hand appraisal of the preparedness levels and coordination protocols institutionalised for the smooth conduct of the upcoming programmes. The discussions pivoted around seamless intelligence sharing, synchronised inter-agency efforts, and strengthening of community- policing bonds to preserve the delicate peace in the region.
In a clear directive to District Police Chiefs, the IGP ordered intensified market checking drives in tandem with civil administration to crack down on hoarding, black marketing, and arbitrary pricing of essential supplies.

Security of railway infrastructure — both stations and tracks — came under special focus, with instructions for augmented patrolling, heightened surveillance, and preventive measures, including public awareness campaigns to prevent untoward incidents. Security arrangements along the strategic National Highway were also reviewed, with specific directions for further fortification.
“All officers shall remain on high alert, further strengthen intelligence and swift response mechanisms, and ensure seamless coordination for the tranquil and orderly conduct of all forthcoming events across the Kashmir Valley,” the IGP directed. (KNS)
