Srinagar, Dec 22 (KNS): A three day District level sports and athletics festival was organized on Thursday by Baramulla Police in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and Nehru Yuva Kendra.
The sports meet was inaugurated by Javaid Mujtaba Gillani, IGP Kashmir at Professor Showkat Ali Stadium Baramulla.
Hundreds of young sportspersons and athletes hailing from all across the district are participating in the sports meet. Besides athletics competitions in games like Hockey,Volley Ball, Handball, Kabbadi, Table Tennis, Khokho, Tug of War and other games will be part of the three days sports festival. A colorful cultural program was presented by school children and other cultural tropes on the occasion.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Geelani speaking on the occasion said that Police is organizing such events, in addition to their routine duties to channelize the energy of youth in a positive direction. He said that such events being organized in length and breadth of the valley will continue to be held to provide the platform to youth to harness their sports talent.
Among others DIG North Kashmir, Uttam Chand, Brig Yogesh Choudhary, Nasir Naqash DC Baramulla, prominent citizens and hundreds of people especially the youth attended the inaugural function. (KNS)
