IGP Kashmir directs officers to intensify vigil, strengthen security

Srinagar, Oct 21(KNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi (IPS), on Tuesday directed officers to intensify vigil and strengthen the overall security grid across the Valley in view of the prevailing situation. He emphasized that proactive and preventive measures are key to maintaining peace and thwarting any potential threats.

Chairing a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar, IGP Birdi instructed field officers to increase night checking, step up area domination, and ensure coordinated patrolling in sensitive and vulnerable areas. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Army, and intelligence agencies, including Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, and district Senior Superintendents of Police from across the Kashmir Zone.

According to officials, the IGP reviewed the prevailing security scenario and discussed strategies to counter emerging challenges. He stressed the importance of robust inter-agency coordination and real-time intelligence sharing to facilitate timely responses to any situation. “All agencies must work in complete synergy to prevent any attempt that could disturb peace. Coordination and information flow should be seamless and continuous,” Birdi told the officers.
