Muzaffarabad, Mar 08 (KNS): On the eve of International Women’s Day, International Forum for Justice and Human Rights JK organised a rally in Muzaffarabad against the harassment of Kashmir women by the Indian state.
The rally which was attended by large number of women started from Ambur Migrant camp and ended at Suzuki Plaza.
The slogans raised against the killing, rapes and harassment of Kashmir Women by the Indian state reverberated in the air and charged the atmosphere as participants were holding banners and images of Kashmiri women being harassed by the Indian state.
According to a statement issued to KNS, after the rally, a seminar was organised in Ambur Migrant camp. The forum Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Untoo while speaking in the seminar through telephone said the Indian state has tried every violence against the women of Kashmir. He said on the International day of Women, the world community especially United Nations have failed to provide justice to the women of Kashmir as these forums and communities are acting as a mute spectators to the human rights violence’s in Kashmir by the Indian state.
He appealed the international community to play their role in protecting the women in Kashmir by using their offices to put pressure on India to stop violations in J&K.
He said Indian occupational forces has usurped the right of women to live, right to be free and has also violated the dignity of women. He said hundreds of harassments have been reported wherein India have used women as a weapon of war and many women are missing from past few decades while hundreds of women have been raped by the Indian Army.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
While speaking in the seminar, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, vice president of the forum, Gulzar Fatima President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (Women Wing) Azad Kashmir, Taqdees Geelani, Central Vice President Tehreek-e-Insaaf , Raja Sajad LAteef, Director Kashmir Liberation Cell, Advocate Sameera Qureshi, leader of the Crisis Management Organisation. Advocate Uzma Shareen Muslim league (N) Leader, Mahira Khan Chowdry, Zulfikar Mir, Bashir Khan, Mian Noor Ahmad, Irfan Bhat, Azeem Lone, Syed Muraad Shah also spoke during the seminar.
The speakers while speaking in the seminar appealed the Human Rights and Women Rights groups to take note of the violations and harassment of women rights in Indian occupied Kashmir.
They said people of Kashmir express concern over the silence of international community over the violations of women rights in Kashmir and appealed the world community to snap business ties with India in order to pressurize them to stop violations in Kashmir.
The participants of the seminar also paid homage to the people who lost their lives in Kashmir.
Speakers also expressed satisfaction over the stand taken by Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharief and Army Chief Raheel Sharief regarding Kashmir’s right to self determination. (KNS)
