Hurriyat (M) terms attacks in Rajouri as part of ploy to change demography

the role of the state government was not only that of a silent spectator

Terming the recent attacks perpetrated by the right wing Hindu communal groups against the Muslims in Jammu and Rajouri as part of a ploy to change the demographic character and increase the regional tension in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday said “after coming to power of the present coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, the way in which communal and sectarian confrontations are being feigned and in particular the way in which the spread of hatred against Muslims by the communal elements is being encouraged is not only regrettable but seems to the part of a bigger conspiracy of creating insecurity among the Muslims of the area.”

In a statement to KNS a spokesman of Hurriyat (M) said, “Present government was facilitating and encouraging the ploys of communal and sectarian elements particularly in Jammu region to create an atmosphere of insecurity for the Jammu Muslims.”

Terming such a ploy as part of a well hatched conspiracy, he said the role of the government in the whole scenario was a cause of concern.

While condemning the imposition of continuous curfew in Rajouri, the spokesman said, “Muslims of the area were protesting against the acts of hurting their religious sentiment by the right wing Hindu communal groups who indulged in forcing the local Muslims to leave their homes and properties.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said it appears that right wing communal groups have been given a free license to subject Jammu Muslims to torture and terror, adding, in this scenario, the role of the state government was not only that of a silent spectator, but that of the supporter for the communal and sectarian elements active in the Jammu region.”
Asserting that the ploys of right wing parties in Jammu cannot succeed, the spokesman said the Muslims of Kashmir stand shoulder to shoulder along with their Muslim brothers in Jammu to confront the malicious designs of terror against them.

He also denounced the plans of Government of India to settle former soldiers in Kashmir. “Kashmir is a disputed territory and hence India has no right to settle people or army men here. Any such move would be met with full resistance by the people of the state,” he added.
