Welcome meeting between Indo-Pak FSs

Srinagar, Apr 27 (KNS): A joint meeting of the Hurriyat (M) Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee was held at APHC Headquarters Rajbagh on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by senior member of the APHC’s Executive Council and former Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat in absence of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was placed under house confinement Wednesday morning.
The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of all the constituents and the advisors of the conglomerate.
During the meeting, the Hurriyat (M) leaders deliberated upon the recent political developments in Indo-Pak subcontinent and its effects on the entire South Asia besides taking stock of the APHC’s organizational affairs.
Welcoming the meeting between Indian and Pakistani Foreign Secretaries on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia Conference in New Delhi, the Hurriyat (M) leaders said though this was a positive initiative which would help in breaking the ice in the strained relationship between the two countries, however, there was a need to show more seriousness towards making dialogue a consistent process and exhibiting progress on all outstanding issues between the two countries.
Stressing that Kashmir remains the core issue between India and Pakistan, the Hurriyat (M) leaders said unless the two countries take steps to resolve this issue, peace and stability of the entire region would continue to remain a distant dream as other issues between the two countries were actually the offshoots of Kashmir issue.
It was stated in the meeting that there was a need to take the resistance leadership of Kashmir into confidence and start a result-oriented dialogue process over Kashmir with seriousness so that a long-lasting and just solution of the issue was arrived at.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Terming the house arrest of the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq as undemocratic and dictatorial, the Hurriyat leaders condemned this action of the state administration
Condemning the curbs placed by the administration on stopping funeral prayers in absentia (Nimaz-e-Jinaza) of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front founder and senior resistance leader, Amanullah Khan, the participants of the meeting said this amounted to interference into religious duties by use of force, demonstrating the extremist mindset of the government thus proving its claims of democracy as completely hollow.
Meanwhile, as per the APHC’s programme, the conglomerate paid glowing tributes to Amanullah Khan, recalling his sacrifices for Kashmir’s ongoing freedom movement and offered special prayers for him.
In absence of the Mirwaiz, the prayer meeting was led by senior APHC leader Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat.
On the occasion, the APHC leaders termed his sacrifices for the Kashmir cause as enormous and said this visionary leader’s death had created a void in the political and resistance circles of Kashmir, which would be difficult to fill.
The meeting while expressing sympathy and solidarity with Amanullah Khan’s family and the rank and file of JKLF, offered Fateh Khawani for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, an APHC spokesman condemned the detention of APHC leader, Javed Ahmad Mir at Kothi Bagh Police Station for stopping him from participating in offering funeral prayers in absentia for JKLF founder Amanullah Khan. (KNS)
