Srinagar, Feb 15 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (M) Wednesday denounced the State administration for placing Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and banning his peaceful political activities terming it as dictatorial and supremacist attitude of the ruling regime.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman, who had to lead the ‘Kulgam March’ called by the unified resistance leadership from Jamia Masjid Srinagar, was placed under house detention at his Nigeen residence by the authorities from Tuesday 14 Feb evening.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) castigated the government for its vindictive politics and said that the government was indulging and had unleashed a reign of terror in Kulgam by committing brutal atrocities on the people, killing innocent civilians, firing pellets on protestors indiscriminately and causing severe injuries to all parts of the body including the eyes of the victims of the notorious pellet gun.
The statement condemned the ruling class for not even allowing people to grieve and mourn over the loss of innocent lives and express sympathies with the victims by placing severe restrictions on the movement of the people.
Denouncing the house arrest of veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Geelani, arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Duktaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Syeda Asiya Andrabi, and other resistance leaders and activits, the APHC statement said the peaceful protest programme of ‘Kulgam March’ by the unified resistance leadership was sabotaged by using excessive force and by arresting resistance leaders.
The statement of the amalgam said the ruling class had torn all democratic norms and principles of humanity to shreds by banning the movement of resistance leaders and freedom-loving people in order to abort the ‘Kulgam March’ programme.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Hurriyat (M) statement said the state government had stooped too low for implementing the nefarious designs they were planning to execute in Jammu Kashmir and the arrest spree of the resistance leaders, workers and freedom-loving people was acceptance of their defeat.
Meanwhile, in connection with the ‘Kulgam March’ programme, a peaceful protest march was taken out from Jamia Masjid Srinagar, which was attended by a number of resistance leaders and workers besides a large number of people but police used excessive force on protestors and stopped them from marching ahead from Khawaja Bazaar, Naqshband Sahab shrine.
Prominent among the Hurriyat leaders and activists who participated in the protest march included Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Yasin Bhat, Muhammad Shafi Lone, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Jaffar Kashmiri and others.
The Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the suicide bomb blast attack at Peshawar Pakistan and has termed it as the worst act of terrorism causing death of innocent civilians and loss of property. Hurriyat has expressed solidarity with the bereaved families as well as the injured in the incident and has prayed for their early recovery.
Meanwhile, paying glowing tributes to one of the foremost martyrs of Kashmir’s resistance movement, Ghulam Muhammad Bulla on his 42nd martyrdom anniversary, the APHC spokesman said the conglomerate was duty-bound to take the mission of the martyrs, who had offered innumerable selfless sacrifices for taking Kashmir’s resistance struggle, to its logical conclusion.
On the occasion, a special prayer meeting for Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Bulla was held at Martyrs Graveyard at Sopore, which was attended by senior Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Nabi Zaki besides other resistance leaders and workers. (KNS)
