Hurriyat (M) calls for shutdown Wednesday

'Unbridled powers to govt forces main for killing unarmed Kashmiris'

Srinagar, Apr 12 (KNS): Condemning the unprovoked firing by Police and Indian Army personnel in Handwara resulting in the killing of two youth, Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday said the unbridled powers given to the government forces is the main reason of forces personnel going berserk and killing of unarmed Kashmiris.
Calling for a complete shutdown on Wednesday 13th April 2016 to protest against this barbaric action of the forces at Handwara, the Mirwaiz has said Kashmiries whether students or businessmen, living in the Valley or outside, were being harassed, victimized and targeted for killing in a manner as if an undeclared war has been waged against them.
Pointing out that observing a shutdown, though is a proper and effective form of protest whenever incidents like Handwara killings or similar incidents do take place, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said, to protest effectively against such incidents, the resistance leadership needs to move forward with a common understanding and devise a comprehensive and effective strategy in dealing with such incidents.
The Mirwaiz said being the representatives of the people and their aspirations, it was incumbent upon the resistance leadership to raise their voice against the atrocities carried on the people and protest against the harassment, victimization and killings of Kashmiris.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Mirwaiz said protest against the killing of Handwara unarmed civilians will send a message to the international community about the atrocities being committed on the people of Kashmir at the hands of the Indian force, the Mirwaiz called for exempting the Sikh community from observing the strike because of Baisakhi festival on 13th April.
Meanwhile spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) has condemned the house arrest of the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq since Monday afternoon, detention of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Sher Bagh Police Station in Islamabad and house arrest of Javaid Ahmad Mir.
Terming this dictatorial attitude of the government as undemocratic and immoral, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman said by placing the resistance leaders under house arrest and putting them in detention would neither weaken their resolve nor silence them into submission and stop them from fighting for the just rights of the people.
