In morning transport coming from Jammu was allowed to move

Srinagar, Sep 25 (KNS): Hundred of Jammu bound vehicles were stranded on Saturday at Qazigund, much to the annoyance of commuters.
No vehicle from Qazigund was allowed to cross Jawahar Tunnel and only the traffic coming from Jammu was allowed to move towards to Srinagar, said eye witnesses.
They added that Jawahar-Tunnel was closed for the movement of traffic past night.
“In the morning, Army convoy, private and public transport coming from Jammu was allowed to move. It seems, the road is open for one way, without any information shared with commuters by the authorities,” Abid Ahmad, a commuter told KNS.
The stranded commuters expressed resentment over the “unnecessary move causing inconvenience to hundreds of travellers including locals and tourists.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Pertiently, the two-and-a-half kilometer long Jawahar tunnel, connecting Kashmir with Jammu region, on Jammu-Srinagar highway has been shut for night traffic movementAugust 19 in the wake of current unrest.
The Jawahar Tunnel had been shut for night traffic in 1990 and late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, shortly after assuming the charge of the State in 2002, had thrown the tunnel open for 24 hours much to the relief of the common people.
“We have left Srinagar at 5am. We reached Qazigund around 6:15am. It is 2’ O’ Clock now and we are still stranded here. Authorities must have communicated to the public that road would remain open only for Srinagar bound vehicles,” said a group of commuters. (KNS)
