Horticulture deptt kick starts Clean India Programme to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti

Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): The Department of Horticulture, Kashmir today celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti, the birthday of Father of the Nation Mahatama Gandhi. To mark the event Swachh Bharat Mission (Clean India Programme) was kick started at Directorate of Horticulture Rajbagh.

To start the event Director General Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (JKAS) officiated the “Swachha Pledge” to the employees of the Department. 

DG Horticulture initiated and led the sanitation drive at the premises of Horticulture Complex Rajbagh Srinagar. He was joined by Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar, Pulwama, Bandipora besides other officers/officials of the Department.

Speaking on the occasion DG Highlighted the significance of sanitation and urged all the participants follow the Swachh Barat Abhiyan in letter and spirit. He also exhorted that we should neither litter nor let others litter. 

He further stressed that we should carry forward the message of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and should keep our homes, offices and surroundings clean. Being the head of the Horticulture Department, Director General said that the sanitation should also be an integral part of our Orchard, Farms and Nurseries.

In the end Director General thanked all the participants and hoped that in future more such cleanliness campaigns will be held to spread the awareness about Clean India Programme. (KNS)
